GOA TRAIL RUN: ARAMBOL, SUNDAY 15 DECEMBER 2019

VENUE
The Goa Trail Run will be held at Arambol. The exact venue and route will be communicated in the Instructions for Participants, 10 days before the event.

HOW TO GET THERE
From Vasco da Gama Station: Take a local bus to from the square outside the station to Panaji. From Panaji bus stand, catch the local bus to Mapusa (pronounced "Mapsa"). From Mapusa bus stand, ask for a bus to Keri. Buses go from Mapusa about every hour until 18:00.

From Madgaon Station: Take the overbridge to the other side (not the side with the booking offices). Take an auto from there to the Margao Bus Stand. Take a 'Shuttle Bus' to Panaji. From Panaji bus stand, catch the local bus to Mapusa (pronounced "Mapsa"). From Mapusa bus stand, ask for a bus to Keri. Buses go from Mapusa about every hour until 18:00.

From Karmali Station: Take a local bus to from road outside the station to Panaji. From Panaji bus stand, catch the local bus to Mapusa (pronounced "Mapsa"). From Mapusa bus stand, ask for a bus to Keri. Buses go from Mapusa about every hour until 18:00.

From Thivim Station: Walk to the main road (about 500m). Take a local bus to Mapusa (pronounced "Mapsa"). From Mapusa bus stand, ask for a bus to Keri. Buses go from Mapusa about every hour until 18:00.

If you are coming by Bus from Mumbai / Pune: Get down at Panaji. Cross the road to the Panaji bus stand. Catch the local bus to Mapusa (pronounced "Mapsa"). From Mapusa bus stand, ask for a bus to Keri. Buses go from Mapusa about every hour until 18:00.

If you are coming by Bus from Bengaluru: Get down at Panaji. Cross the road to the Panaji bus stand. Catch the local bus to Mapusa (pronounced "Mapsa"). From Mapusa bus stand, ask for a bus to Keri. Buses go from Mapusa about every hour until 18:00.

From the Airport: Arambol is approximately a two-hour drive from the Dabolim Airport. You can book a GoaMiles cab (download the app). You could also take the bus from the airport to Mapusa (pronounced "Mapsa"). From Mapusa bus stand, ask for a bus to Keri. Buses go from Mapusa about every hour until 18:00.

If you're driving: We will send you a Google Pin of the exact location in the Instructions to Participants which will be sent 10 days before the event. Follow Google Maps. 

PARKING
Designated parking areas will be marked. The area around the start line has to be free of cars in order to keep the route safe for event participants. Volunteers will help drivers find parking places, so that there are no arguments or altercations.

RACE BY CATEGORY
Runners in each category will start all together. The 21K race will start at 06:45 hrs, followed by the 10K race at 07:30hrs. The 5K Fun Run starts at 07:45hrs.

RACE INSTRUCTIONS
The route for each category — along with detailed instructions — will be communicated to each runner a week in advance of the event by email and/or WhatsApp. These instructions will be comprehensive, and there will be no briefing before each race. In case there are any questions or clarifications about the race instructions, these can be asked by email/WhatsApp till the evening before the race, and will be replied to within 6 hours.

ROUTE MARKING
The route for each category will be marked by highly visible coloured ribbons at regular line-of-sight intervals. Details of route marking will be given in the race instructions. Runners should not leave the route or attempt to take any shortcuts. This will not just result in disqualification, but the real danger is of runners getting lost. The Socorro Plateau is a large wilderness area, and getting lost could turn out to be an extremely prolonged and unpleasant experience.

TIMING
Electronic Timing will be by Sportrolic Timing Solutions, Mumbai. Each runner will be given a wrist band containing an RFID timing chip. Timings will be recorded by trained timing volunteers, at the finish. Timing Volunteers will carry individual timing devices. Each runner has to physically touch his or her timing band to the device for the timing to be recorded. All timing volunteers will be wearing high visibility vests. Results will be based on individual timings. The 5K Fun Run will not be timed.

NUMBER NOTATION
There will be three number notation stations on the route. These are at the same points as the water stations. Volunteers will note down the bib numbers of all competitors who pass by. As a matter of abundant precaution, it may be a good idea to shout your number out aloud as you pass each water station, so that chances of your number being missed are minimised. Results will be tallied with the number notations to ensure that all competitors have completed the entire route.

FOOTWEAR
We recommend that all participants wear proper footwear (running shoes) while competing in the event. If you are barefoot or wearing flip-flops/sandals, you could hurt yourself.

RECOMMENDED
We suggest that you bring with you the following items:
A change of clothes, a towel to dry yourself off (you will be sweating), any medications you normally take, sun screen.

WATER
There will be water stations at regular intervals on the route. Water will be served in paper cups. When you take water, please leave the paper cup at the water station or throw it at the side (where it cannot be a danger to other runners) within the litter zone, which extends 100 metres after each water station. This is a wonderful wilderness area and we wish to leave it cleaner than when we found it. Please cooperate with us in this endeavour by not littering except where we can clean up. No re-hydration fluids will be available. If you need them, bring your own.

BAGS
There will be a covered area near the start line that is designated for various facilities; a Help Desk, a Baggage Counter (to keep your bags during the race), a First Aid Station (with an Ambulance on standby) and a shaded area for spectators /supporters to sit.

WHISTLE
Each runner will be issued with a whistle for emergencies, so that (s)he can attract the attention of a volunteer if (s)he is injured and lying down in the grass — and not easily visible. Runners are requested not to blow this whistle unless there is a serious emergency. It is for use only in case of an injury or medical emergency where (s)he is unable to move without help.

FIRST AID
Each water station has a first aid kit equipped for for minor injuries like cuts and scratches, rashes or allergies, cramps or pain, etc. A vehicle (a two-wheeler, if a four wheeler cannot reach the spot) will also be standing by for evacuation in case of any major injury or other emergency. If you are facing any problems, please make your way to the nearest water station. If you are injured or cannot move by yourself for any other reason, please wait. The route will be patrolled by volunteers on motorcycles and bicycles. Please blow the whistle you are issued or call out to them if you need help.

CUT OFF TIME
The cut off time for completing the 5K event shall be three-and-a-half hours from the start. The cut off time for the 10K event shall be three-and-a-half hours from the start. The cut off time for the 21K event shall be five hours from the start.

POST RACE NUTRITION
We will provide water and fruits at the finish line for the runners.

RESULTS FINAL AND BINDING
The Results will be final and binding. No disputes will be entertained at the race venue. Protests, if any, must be made by email on Monday 16 December 2019 by email at <adventurebreaksgoa@gmail.com>.

FINISHER MEDALS AND CERTIFICATES
Each participant who successfully completes the Goa Trail Run will get a Finisher Medal. Certificates including timings will be available online 72 hours after the event concludes.

PRIZE DISTRIBUTION
The Prize Distribution will get underway at 11:00 hrs. Winners get medals and prizes. In case there is a technical snag in the timing or a dispute that cannot be resolved at the spot, the organisers reserve the right to delay declaration of results of the HDFC Bank Unite Goa Trail Run 2019 by up to 48 hours.

HOW TO REGISTER

Students is not a separate prize category. Students get a hefty concession on the entry fees, but no special prizes, They compete in the 'Open' category, unless they are 45 years or older.

WHAT ABOUT THOSE WHO PAID EARLIER AND DID NOT CLAIM THEIR REFUND?
Every competitor who paid earlier and did not take a refund is automatically considered a competitor in the HDFC Bank Unite Goa Trail Run at Arambol. We will be communicating individually with each of them.
